On the first day of law school, a professor asked the class why we wanted to be lawyers. I immediately responded “to help people.” He smirked at me and promptly moved to the next student. But, since becoming an attorney in 2003, my driving force has always been to do what I can to help those around me.

My first years were spent in two large law firms, in the insurance defense and corporate defense arenas, working closely with business owners to protect their companies. After extended work with one company, I went in-house with them, serving as General Counsel and Vice-President. In that role, I partnered with ownership to create and execute a legal strategy to enhance business growth, while counseling the Executive, Accounting, Human Resources and Operations teams. I participated in strategic planning to protect the company’s interests while planning for its future growth and navigating the successful sale. In that position, I worked closely with regulatory agencies, outside counsel, vendors and Fortune 50 clients to ensure the company’s success. After that sale, I joined a local firm, bringing my corporate strategic planning experience to its business law and estate planning practice. In that role, I worked with families and businesses to protect what they had worked so hard to build, through estate planning and advising businesses on navigating the daily questions of running their business.

Kathie and I agree it is a privilege to partner with our clients in defining goals for the future and next generations and, through strategic planning, ensuring those goals are achieved. We are honored to work with an incredible team, whose strengths complement each other, to create a culture where clients are efficiently and effectively served.

“Erica epitomizes ‘solution-focused.’ Being her friend for years before we were able to work together, I consider myself lucky to have a unique perspective on her talents. She has a knack for making those in her presence instantly comfortable, and her can-do attitude and propensity for taking initiative result in immeasurable client satisfaction.”
